Friends of Le Village....Thank you for your support!
Thank you ladies for donating 117 bras in August 2015 to a very worthwhile organization. These bras were shipped to women who have been victims of human trafficking and slavery. They are selling our unwanted bras and. in the process, earning enough to support themselves. Teach a woman to fish.....

August 2018 - Free the Girls' Campaign
Thanks to all those who contributed to the "FREE THE GIRLS" Bra Drive.  152 bras collected and shipped!

Let's Free the Girls Together!
Le Village invites you to join us in August to "free the girls".  It's easy. Here's how it works!
  1. Drop off a new or gently used bra
  2. Le Village collects them and sends them to the "Free the Girls" headquarters in Indiana.
  3. The Free the Girls organization sends the bras to women entrepreneurs in developing countries.
  4. The women entrepreneurs, (former child victims of slavery and human trafficking), are now able to generate an income from the resale of the bras.

WHY BRAS?
Women in this programme were sold into prostitution, often as children.  Bras provide the following:

GREAT INCOME - Second-hand clothing is a thriving industry in many countries around the world. Bras are usually sought after items, and command top dollar in the marketplace.

SAFE ENVIRONMENT - Bras provide an opportunity for these women to work with other women, since they have a history of being abused and used by men.

FLEXIBLE SCHEDULE - Most of the women we work with were sold into prostitution as children, only 8-10 years old. Because their lives were stolen from them, they missed out on going to school and getting an education. Having their own small business selling bras allows them to work as much or as little as their school schedule permits.

SUSTAINABLE MODEL - The women in our program receive their starting inventory as a donation, and are then able to buy additional inventory from Free The Girls for below wholesale value to help maintain their competitive edge in the marketplace.  Revenue from inventory sales covers our overseas program costs so our international programs are sustainable.  For more information, visit: www.freethegirls.org.

Le Village ladies are "supporting the girls" to promote their campaign. FREE THE GIRLS is a charity that collects gently used bras and donates them to victims of human trafficking. These women use the bras as inventory for their own micro business, enabling them to take control of their lives.

Bring your gently used bras to Le Village (304 Canboro Road) August 15-26, 2016. We will add them to our 'uplifting' display!"
